The Mark of the Beast & Cain and Able
Notes from Stephen Bohr’s “The Genesis Code”
Armageddon
Revelation 16:12-16 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.
The only place between Revelation 3:21 and Revelation 21 that Jesus clearly speaks:
15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
Adam and Eve before the fall: (not clothed in human garments)
Genesis 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Notice the repeat of the concepts of nakedness and shame
Originally clothed in garments of light
Psalm 8:5-6 For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
. You have put all things under his feet,
The true church as symbolized by a woman is clothed in light:
Revelation 12:1 Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.
Psalm 104:1-2 Bless the LORD, O my soul!
O LORD my God, You are very great:
You are clothed with honor and majesty,
Who cover Yourself with light as with a garment,
. Who stretch out the heavens like a curtain.
Matthew 17:1-2 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.
Mark 9:2-3 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them.
Adam and Eve after sin. No human coverings can remove the shame and nakedness. Remember that Adam and Eve were covered by fig leaves and they still felt naked
Genesis 3:7-10 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
9 Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
The only way to be covered is through the sacrifice of the Lamb of God. Sacrifice of two lambs or two animals:
Genesis 3:21 Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
Story of Cain and Abel in Genesis 4 shows that the question of what seed you are is determined solely by the person’s character. Abel’s worst enemy was his brother, Cain, someone brought an offering to God (fruit of the ground), someone who made an altar to God, someone who claimed to be a worshiper of God, but chose to worship God the way he wanted to instead of the way God specified.
First battle of Armageddon. The false professed follower of God persecutes the true follower of God. The final battle of Armageddon will be similar, those who profess to follow God but only follow God on their terms killing the true followers who follow and obey God explicitly. Cain knew that animal sacrifices were needed as described in Genesis 3:21, yet he chose to be disobedient and this is sin:
Genesis 4:6-7 So the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
James 4:17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
The false follower does wrong actions and evil works. The true follower does righteous actions:
1 John 3:12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.
Cain’s characteristics:
1. He rejected Jesus by not offering an animal
2. He disobeyed God’s explicit order
3. He worshiped God as he pleased, he substituted a different way
God’s followers greatest enemies were always their brothers:
1. Cain and Abel
2. The prophets and “God’s people” who they were speaking to
3. The Pharisees who claimed to follow God and Christ
4. The false church in the Middle Ages persecuting the real church
5. …The last battle will be between professed followers of God
God intervenes for justice, but after the fact:
Genesis 4:10-11 And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. 11 So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
Mark of the Beast – to preserve life temporarily on this earth:
Genesis 4:15 And the LORD said to him, “Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.” And the LORD set a mark on Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him.
Revelation 13:15-16 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads
At the end of time you will have two different groups of worshipers with the exact same characteristics of Cain and Abel having the exact same concept:
1. Blood/life
Revelation 7:14…So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
2. Worship
Revelation 14:6-7 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
… Sign of worship that recognizes God as the Creator is the Sabbath.
3. Obedience
Cain decided to disregard God’s command concerning how to worship. Most of the Christian world does the same thing when they decide to worship on Sunday, a concept with no biblical support.
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
If the 4th Commandment was nailed to the cross, why is there an issue of true and false worship? Why are there people who keep commandments of God in the last days?
Just as Able died and his blood cried out for justice, so will those killed in the 1260 years cry out for justice, and wait in sleep/resting yet ready for justice until the last time of persecution is past.
Revelation 6:9-11 When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.
Jesus contrasted the two types of Christians in the end time. The sincere obedience Christians and the sincere disobedient:
Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Remember that Jesus taught with parables, and without a parable taught he not. Much of your comment is a literal interpretation held by you for its’ support of your personal belief system. Know also that when read as a historical report the Bible is fouled with contradiction. In the understanding that the Bible is “teaching” entirely in parable or figurative language there is no contradiction. This is the understanding that “Jesus” is a reference to our hearts through which we detect love. “Satan” is our fear generating intellectual minds. And “God” is the Love that flows between our hearts like physical blood flows between the parts of a physical body giving them their life.
You have the right relationship between those images. However, I would add that those things are here now and were before. Genesis narrative explains beginnings, and Revelations reveal the end. Those symbols are also relevant to space in between.
Mark of Cain is an insignia. It was copied by his children in various ways and today we see them as flags and banners. Our children in schools are worshipping mark of the beast. Don’t know if its the last beast of if there are more to come.
Powerful illustration. Two classes of people within SDA church like Ten virgins, wheat and tares, with and without wedding garment. God bless you
